Dear Blue Neighbors,
Is fifty dollars too much for you to spend to help protect the rural quality of life in your community?
If your answer is “Of course not,” then here’s how you can help do that.
As you may know, Sandow Lakes Energy is proposing to build a huge natural gas power generation plant in the Blue community, at the intersection of CR 309 and CR 312.
If built, this power plant would harm our community in several ways: air pollution; increased noise, lights and traffic; and decreased property values. It could also impact our surface and groundwater resources.
We, the members of the Move the Gas Plant steering committee, are working hard to ensure that never happens.
But we need your help NOW!
And the best way you can do that right now is to donate money.
We have launched a legal challenge to Sandow Lakes Energy’s application to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for an emissions permit.
We’ve hired the premier public-interest environmental law firm in Texas, Perales Allmon & Ice. The firm has already requested a contested case hearing be held over the company’s application.
We are under no illusions about the difficulty of beating a permit at the TCEQ. But there is precedent. These kinds of power plants have been opposed and beaten before in Texas.
In order for our legal challenge to be effective, we need monetary support from the Blue community. To those of you who already have donated, THANK YOU!
So, please consider joining the effort to stop this gas plant from being built in Blue. Fifty dollars. One hundred. Five hundred. Any amount you can give will help.
Please make a check out to Move the Gas Plant and send it to Move the Gas Plant, P.O. Box 286, Lexington, TX 78947.
